| It's been a long time. I guess I don't feel much incentive to keep writing posts. In recent history: -I've moved into my spacious Southview apartment from the dump that was East Campus. -I'm the only one in the room now for two weeks, which is really nice. -I've started building a model kit of a '53 Corvette. -I bought 3 more Rifftrax commentaries yesterday: SW II; LotR: FotR; and X-M. (That last one was X-men. I was trying to keep up the pattern.) -Last week at work was probably the worst week ever. My boss was on vacation all week, and I had finished the big stack of work he gave me on Monday. So I had to spend the remaining 32 hours of the week trying to keep busy. I've been exhausted all week. That's all I have to say about that. Goodbye, probably for a while again. | | |
| Life is dull. I've been reading The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells, since I finished The Screwtape Letters, which is easily one of the best books I've ever read. C.S. Lewis is the man. After I finish WotW, I'll read Harry Potter 6, since I borrowed a copy of it. Then I'll try to track down a copy of book 7. My parents are coming up on Friday. Yay. I saw The Simpsons Movie twice on opening day: once at 12:00 AM, and again the next evening. It's a pretty funny flick. Rachel's coming back from Houston today, so I'll get to talk to her on the phone. I am looking forward to that immensely. That's about it. I'm tired. I'm going to nap. | | |
| "At schools, the children who are too stupid or lazy to learn languages and mathematics and elementary science can be set to doing the things that children used to do in their spare time. Let them, for example, make mud pies and call it modelling. But all the time there must be no faintest hint that they are inferior to the children who are at work. Whatever nonsense they are engaged in must have 'parity of esteem.'" -Screwtape, as transcribed by C.S. Lewis | | |
| A short post because I am going to bed. 1. I saw a figure-8 dirt track auto race last Saturday. What fun. Roaring engines and destruction galore. Good time! 2. Work is work. I've just been given a huge assignment (~350 graphs to look at and categorize). My first design project is pretty much done. Woo! 3. Rachel makes me very very happy and I miss her very very much. 4. I get to move out of this dump on August 11. Hooray! 5. Sioux Center has idiotically put every single road in the whole fragging town under construction at the same fragging time. 6. My parents are coming out the first weekend in August. Huzzah and all that.™ 7. That's pretty much all. Bye! | | |
